How wide are your fabrics?
Our craft weight fabrics are approximately 114/115cm wide and our decor weight fabrics are approximately 145/146cm wide.

What is a 'fat quarter'?
A fat quarter of fabric is a quarter of a metre, measuring approximately 55cm x 50cm. A fat quarter is made by cutting a metre of fabric from the bolt, and then cutting it into quarter 'squares'.

What is a 'long quarter'?
A long quarter of fabric is a quarter metre, measuring approximately 114cm x 25cm. A long quarter is made by cutting 25cm of fabric from the bolt, which is normally about 114cm long. Please let us know when you place your order if you would like your fabric as a long quarter.

Why do you sell your fabrics as fat quarters?
We sell our fabric in quarter metres - rather than half or whole metres - to allow you to purchase just the amount you need. A fat quarter of fabric is often a more useful size than a long quarter.

I'd like more than one quarter metre of fabric.  Can I have it in one piece?
Yes, we will always supply multiples of quarter metres uncut.  So, if you would like one metre of fabric uncut, you will need to order four fat quarters, and for two metres of fabric uncut, you will need to order eight fat quarters, and so on.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?
Please see 'delivery information' on the Terms & Conditions page.

I'd rather not enter my credit or debit card details online. Do you take telephone orders?
Yes, we'd be happy to.  Just call us.

How can I be sure that the fabric looks the same as it does online?
If your computer monitor is set up correctly, it should show the fabric colours accurately.  If you would prefer, you can order samples from us.

How do I find out the pattern repeat of a particular fabric?
If you would like to know the exact pattern repeat of a particular fabric, please get in touch and we'd be happy to help.

How do I know whether the fabric I like will be suitable for my project?
Only you know your own tastes, and therefore whether you like a particular pattern or design.  However, the weight (or thickness) of a fabric will determine how well it works for particular projects.  As a general rule, our craft weight fabrics are suitable for:
  • Clothes
  • Crafts (such as quilting and applique)
  • Lightweight interior decor (such as cushion covers)
  • Bag linings
Of course, you can always combine our craft weight fabrics with interlining and other products to allow it to be used for a wider range of projects.

Our decor weight fabrics are suitable for:
  • Interior decor uses, such as cushion covers and curtains
  • Bags
  • Heavier-weight clothes, such as trousers and aprons

If you're not sure, just get in touch.

Can I order samples?
We'd be happy to send you samples of up to 7 fabrics for free -  please just send us an email or call (until we get something more sophisticated arranged!) and we'll aim to send them out the same day.

You show the pattern measurements in inches and yards.  How do I easily find out how much fabric I need in centimetres?
A lot of the patterns we buy in are from either Australia, the US or Canada, and they supply imperial - rather than metric - measurements.  But because some of us work in metric too, we think it's most helpful to provide metric conversions (cm and m) for these patterns.  That's what we try to do for most of our patterns, but sometimes this is just too time-consuming, so where we haven't supplied metric conversions, we recommend www.onlineconversion.com because it converts fractions.

What are your postage and packaging (p&p) charges?
We've worked out p&p to be as fair as possible - that means that we don't make a profit from it - we just charge enough to cover our own costs. Currently, our first class p&p charges to the UK, are:

Orders of £10.01 to £20        £2.50

Europe: £2.50 for the first item, an additional 25p for each further item.
Rest of the world surface mail: £2.75 for the first item, an additional 40p for each further item.
Rest of the world air mail: £3.00 for the first item, an additional 50p for each further item.
